To Doug – Aloha – Paul Pearsall (March, 1997)
From his book: The Pleasure Prescription, Paul Pearsall signed my copy in 1997 during my semester in my first college level Psychology class at Henry Ford Community College. Aloha, (like most Polynesian words, has numerous meanings, including love) embraces the five principles of patience, unity, agreement, humility, and kindness. Aloha literally means to give and share the breath of life. We must embrace life by sharing its sacredness with others. In contrast to Western principles of glorifying the individual or self, the Aloha prescription glorifies the whole. Aloha
